| This article is historically inaccurate. The 19th century was actually more liberal than the 20th in regard to "black blood" and the definition of "white. Frank Sweet's historical articles deal extensively with this topic. |

I have not read that particular article of Frank's
It surprises me that a previous period was actually more liberal than a later one. What do you think accounts for that? |

The passing of time does not necessarily mean progress. Reconstruction was progress, then came Jim Crow. Weimar was followed by Nazi Germany. The U.S. has gone backward in many ways and forward in others. |

A shame so few people iknow this
And so many soul patrollers will swear that, one of the reaons you HAVE to go by the One Drop is that THIS IS THE WAY IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN DONE HERE - I have had that stated to me as one reason you have to do with it. Not so
