I haven't read all the answers I'm only answering the question (I will read the others answers later).
Of course they do!!! Why wouldn't they??
Does someone really believe that we are programmed to only like the same type as oneself??? It's ridicoulous.

I don't see the rate of Black female/White male couples ever coming close let alone surpassing the high rate of Asian female/White male couples in the U.S. There are no statistics that even suggest the percentage of Black female/White male couples is quickly catching up to the percentage of Asian female/White male couples and thus helping close the gap between the 2 pairings.

This is going to sound crazy, coming from someone who was born to BW/WM... but there are many situations in which Monica is correct.

My ex-wife is white (long story, but she was the cause behind my hiatus from Interracial Voice, starting in 2001 - it ended in 2005, and I came back a year later on mulatto.org). Anyway, there was BW/WM couple in the neighborhood - and this black woman was complaining about MY marriage to the whole neighborhood, when she is married to a white person herself!

The only conclusion I could draw from this, is that she had some ulterior motive for marrying her husband, because she sure as hell wasn't satisfied with him if she was so worried about who I was married to.

Anyway, I'm happy that that's over - I knew all along before I met that "blankety-blank" that I belong with a mulatto woman... Wink

In my personal life recently, I've encountered two women, one who is married to a white man and one who just ended a relationship with a white man.

OMG these two women make me sick, they are very dark skinned and unattractive aka Omorosa, personally both women make a point of trying to make everyone like them, they are braggarts are ignorant and have bad judgement. One makes a habit of bringing up her "white" husband everyday, telling the rest of us his opinion on matters. The other, an ignorant gold digger, who had a one night stand with a black guy, thought she was carry a mixed baby and got burnt, now she's alone (except for her new baby)and bitter.

In my opinion, both these womne seem to be in love with having a white man but not in love WITH a white man.

I once had a white suitor, he was a cool guy but he was jewish, my supervisor and besides being my manager on the job, he sold weed, which I felt was so tacky and ignorant, especially for a white man. When he asked if we could date, I told him honestly he would never be just "Gary" to me, he would always be "white Gary".

So my question is do Black women "like" white men?

For the record of I'm brown skinned with nappy hair why would I want to sleep with someone who has the texture and skin color of my cat

Whenever I hear black women talk like Monica, I wonder if they would feel the same way if said "white men" were revealed to have drops of the supposedly dreaded "black blood." Would they go from "the enemy" to prized light-skinned baby-makers?

From pictures she's shown of herself, Monica is fair complexioned as well with freckles and a reddish tint to her brown hair. Her husband is fair complexioned as well, I believe a bit lighter from the pictures she shared with green eyes?

Whenever I hear people talk like Powell I wonder if they have something against black women who voice preference.

Monica and her family are not "white" in phenotype. I was referring to people who are. The point is that many black-identified folks who are opposed to intermarriage with "whites" are happy to marry "whites" who agree to call themselves "black."

oh ok I missunderstood

I was actually not responding to you as much to the fact that Monica still married (current husband?) a light skinned green eyed man

Also, I think for BW it raises the question, If the man is only sexually interested in or ginuinely wanting a relationship?

Not to muddy the water, but women have fretted over this since before we climbed down from the trees. Just as men have fretted over whether they were going commit but wind up unknowingly supporting and raising other men's kids.

hm. Confused

Ah, but Famu...

It isn't merely "voicing preference".

It is fine to say you're not attracted to some people. But to mock racial characteristics that differ from one's own is ignorant.

In addition, I don't feel like I'm sleeping with a cat when I'm with my fiance. He is an extremely FINE white man who looks sexy at nearly 40 years old. Laughing

Monica, those girls you are talking about are just nasty ,goldigers women with hangups. I hope the guys they are with will figure that out.
Do Black women like White men?
Just IMOP, no. Black women have this cultural thing of not going there.
Blacks have on whole this cultural thing of looking at that as awful.
I am going to refer to Black men who have made it and have something to offer as in career, etc., have been going to White women in record numbers over the years. Many Black women are left standing on the sidelines. NOW, just now, it seems more Black women are open to finding a man , as they should , of their social-economic-educational-career level.
White guys , for the most part do not go for Black women. Black guys ,those who have made it ,seem to go for anything White they can find. White guys usually find like a rocket scientist, lol, if they go Black.

Something New is a good movie, light hearted, about this subject. The woman who wrte the script is Black. She was featured on Soledad O'Brien's show, Black In America. O'Brien had a feature about Black women finding mates or not too.
--------
What kind of guy do you prefer ,Monica?
-----------------
I prefer White and they seem to prefer me.

I don't agree that white men have skin and hair like cats. I just disagree with some assumptions that black women are okay with "whiteness" as long as it gives their kids "light skin" and "good hair."

Like I said, I wonder why it's always really negative against black women.
