I watched this movie yesterday at the movie theater. Throughout the film Keanu Reeves character is commonly referred to as a Whiteboy by both Blacks and Asians in the movie. It's just funny seeing somebody who is part Chinese being referred to as a Whiteboy by other Asians. Though its not the first time this has happened in Hollywood. There is also a movie called "Surf Ninjas" where Rob Schneider's character (he is part Filipino in real life) is also described as White by other Asians in the movie.

That is interesting. I've never seen either movie but I've seen Keanu Reeves and Rob Schneider in plenty of other movies. Knowing Rob Schneider and his crew/running buddies (like Adam Sandler), the "white" comments in the movie are probably a purposeful joke, since, like you said, he's only half-white.

Keanu Reeves - English mother & part-Chinese, part-Hawaiian father

Rob Schneider - Filipino mother & Jewish father

I seem to remember reading -- somewhere -- that some Asians don't consider part Asians to be Asian. I don't recall where I read this, or if the Asians in the first category are Asian Americans or Asians in Asia.

Yes, I recall them from Saturday Night Live when they were getting started.

Footnote 55 on page 281 of Frank W. Sweet, Legal History of the Color Line: The Rise and Triumph of the One-Drop Rule (Palm Coast FL: Backintyme, 2005) says, in part: "According to Yu Xie and Kimberly Goyette, “The Racial Identification of Biracial Children with One Asian Parent: Evidence from the 1990 Census,” Social Forces, 76 (no. 2, December 1997), 547-70, most Americans of mixed Euro-Asian parentage (like Keanu Reeves, say) also consider themselves to be census White."

He is actually less than half Chinese because his father is not fully Chinese but actually an Eurasian himself while his mother is fully White. So genetically he is more European than he is Asian, so he has a legit reason for identifying as White. I guess that's why Hollywood has no problem casting him as White in all of his movies, because if you notice all of the roles he plays, his characters always have an American last name and never a Chinese last name.

Hapas (half Asians, half non-asians) are generally ONLY considered Asian if you fit these two requirements:

1) you have an Asian father.

2) your mix = Asian and White.

Reeves and Cain are accepted as Asians, cause they go by white surnames. For the same reason Anthony Wong and Karen Mok are accepted as Asians. Also Asians "look down" to blacks and hispanics and "look up" to whites.

The Asian media worshipes Eurasians, which can be seen in the asian entertainement industry. Plenty of Eurasian singers, actors and models, but very few Blasians, eventho they are just as beautifull.

List of Eurasians in the Asian Entertainment industry:

-Daniel Henney
-Dennis Oh
-Michael Wong
-Karen Mok
-Anthony Wong
-Maggie Q
-Tata Young

Mixed Asian,

I am wondering which Asian groups you are referring to? American Asians, Asians from Asia?
In my experience with East Asian is they do not accept Eurasian as Asian. I agree many East Asians look down on Black's and Hispanic's while many will look up to white people. However, many Eurasians I know are not accepted by East Asian's.
