Frank, I've read most of pennypincha's post, and it's mostly one-liners like, "good job" and the like. Is this a violation of Rule 1.2?

I do not think that Richard deliberately misquoted you in order to misrepresent your thesis. He was just pointing out that many of your posts are one-liners expressing your feelings about someone else's contribution, rather than adding anything new of your own. Technically, he is correct that such "ditto"or personal-feelings one-liners do not comply with rule 1.2, "Your every message should seek either to inform or to become informed."

Nevertheless, Richard should be aware that, as a new member, you are exempt from rule 1.2. Most new members feel more comfortable contributing in such a modest fashion until developing the confidence (and interest) to jump in more aggressively. Site management looks at such posts as an intermediate stage after lurking but before full participation, and we encourage it as a transition practice.

For more details on the new-member rule 1.2 exemption policy, see Your every message should inform or seek to become informed in the "Commentary on The Rules" forum.
