From what I was told the owners decided to shut it down because they didnt have the time to moderate the forum especially during a time when certain posters mainly one became consistently disruptive. However, it makes no sense to shut a forum down because of one disruptive person.
Afrolatino.org had next to no moderation. It has to be the only forum I ever encountered with no moderater. The owners acted like moderators when they felt like it. I would say about half the posters on afrolatino.org were US Blacks and the other half self id as Afro Latinos. All of the post on that site were related to Afro latinos however one of the posters that kept that site up and running with lots of information on afro latinos was a US Black woman. I suspect the owners wanted more afro latinos posting than afro Americans. However, I do not claim to know for certain why the site was shut down because the owners never gave us any notice on the lock out and eventual shut down.
Its sad because afrolatino.org was a great informatioal site about afrolatinos. Even if you didnt agree with the posters, just the information from the articles that was shared there was unlike anything I ever seen for/about afrolatinos. |
