Under the western Latino system of racial classification all of them can be considered white. There are some Latinos who are very dark in complexion with skin tones the color of a Carmel brown skin African American and they are classified white by the United States government on the census forms. F. Sweet talked about this.

Question who is African American? In America due to the ODR (one drop rule) an African American can look like anything from dark skin black, Asian, mixed race looking, even look like a white person. So if anybody can be black because they have some black ancestry then why can’t any body be white meaning one drop of white blood makes you whites. Or one European looking body feature like eye color, shape of nose, shape of face, etc make you white.

The ones on that list who phenotype wise would look right at home in a typical Latino novela are considered White. In Brazilian novelas for example most actors/actresses look like they are of Italian, German, or Portuguese descent.

I would answer the question differently by stating that Ricky Martin es de origen espanol (Spaniard) whereas the rest are varying degrees of mestizaje/mulataje. You guys can look the word up to get a better understanding!

Ricky Martin was born in Puerto Rico. I don't know where his parents were from, but I too was always under the impression he was Puerto Rican.

Yes, He is Puerto Rican.

I do not want to go further or else I may be banned but I am trying follow the rules of the forum! If I am permitted to say this on the forum, he is mas espanol que los demas (more Spanish then the rest). Based on personal observation of phenotype only when compared to the others who are more representative of varying degrees of mixed ancestry, whether African, indigenous or all three (european, african and native american)

I think that you are trying to say that he looks to you to have more Euro admixture, since I doubt that you could demonstrate the ability to detect discernible differences between Spaniards, Italians, Portuguese, or any other Mediterranean people.

No, I am not going to suspend you. Nevertheless, you should read Your every message should inform or seek to become informed.

We seem to be having a run on messages where members simply affirm their personal "racial" perceptions to the rest of the group. The first several dozen such affirmations might have have interested someone. It is time to take a break. Is it just me? Or has anyone else grown weary of members who feel the need to tell everyone that they think someone looks thus or so?

Sir,

Lo siento! I apologize but I was only responding to the question asked but the categories that were given I found to be 'deficient', hence my terminology.

I was only stating my viewpoint through objective reality and not imposing a view on the readership. I am well aware that someone may look at the same person and call him negro (aka africano!)!! A stretch but I am OK with people calling others what they wish.
I am not sure what white is though I can guess so I preferred to use another easily distinguishable category such as European to reflect a visual and objective category!

Again I apologize and will watch myself (with your help, of course)!

Fat Joe clearly has SSA features despite being light, so I don't think he could "pass" for White. He is in the same boat as Tisha Campbell and Rosie Perez in terms of people who are light but who's SSA admixture is way too obvious in their facial features for them to "pass". Fat Joe would easily be confused for a high yella Black in Jim Crow South.
