This forum is one of the few on the OneDropRule site that political advocacy is accepted. Though I would like to present all sides of a debate, I do not particularly like flame wars, disrespect, and most importantly, unsubstantiated opinions. That would include opinions stated as fact. I also do not like name calling. Examples are if someone writes something that another may take offense, but has the facts to back up the assertion, calling them a "racist" or perhaps a "homophobe" sqelches the debate and makes it personal. This is not the proper way to debate. I would say that this would apply as long as the author can present their case in an educated professional style, without the intention to goad or offend. I understand that this would be based on the interpretation of the moderators, but I think most will comprehend what I am getting at here.
I also do not like threads/posts that regard consciousness: in other words pro-mulatto, pro-black, pro-white, pro-whatever. This takes away from the mission of this site which is to foster education. You can certainly be proud of who you are, your ancestry, and how you identify. These types of posts will lead people to believe that if you are pro-X, then you must be anti-Y, which may or may not be the case, but the perception exists. This leads to retaliatory or counter posts. I have seen this all too often on other message boards. What separates this site from the rest is the educated and scholarly approach. I would like to keep that focus here. Opinions are welcomed on any politcal topic. Keep in mind, opinions stated as a mater of fact will be challenged as well as facts that are questionable.
I would suggest that threads/posts regarding consciousness topics be taken to another message board.
Any questions/comments/concerns can be taken up in the Site Management forum.
