Let me see if I understand. (1) The ODR is unique to the U.S. and has never existed in Brazil (nor anywhere else). (2) The reason why Brazil has no ODR is a puzzle. (3) 50 years ago, it would have been explained by differences in social attitiudes towards the mixed offspring of intermarriages. (4) Today, recent research finds that explanation incorrect. (5) The real explanation is that Brazil actually does have colorism and has had colorism all along.

Is it just me, or did Skidmore lose track of his topic between (4) and (5)?
