That's false because it implies that Hispanics are asked to classify themselves by "race" in addition to indentifying as Hispanic. |
Hispanics are, in fact, explicitly told to to classify themselves by "race" in addition to identifying as Hispanic. See the 2000 census form. Other decades' forms are also available in the same directory. |

Sorry. I meant the opposite. The author was implying that "Hispanic" was a "race" option on the federal census. |
